The Chesterfield County Police Explorer Program is a volunteer program for young people between the ages of 14 and completed the 8th grade through 21. The program allows the Explorers to learn all about the law enforcement profession. Police Officer "ride a longs", explorer competitions, non-enforcement related work, and community events are some of the details the explorers get to be involved with. These events are exciting, fun and rewarding for the explorers.

A selection process is used to determine who is acceptable for the program. The process involves an initial application, an oral interview, a background check, and satisfactory grades (Minimum 2.0 GPA). After being selected, an explorer is put on 6 months probation. Upon successful completion of the requirements and process you can become an official Chesterfield County Police Explorer.
